How Do I Stand Out When Everyone’s Using AI for Content?

AI has made it easier than ever to pump out content—but that also means a lot of it feels the same. As a small business owner, you stand out by adding what AI can’t: your lived experience, specific opinions, and real connection with your audience.



Lead with your own perspective

  • Share real stories from your business: what worked, what flopped, what you’d do differently.

  • Add your own examples, local context, and niche insights that generic content wouldn’t know.

  • Don’t be afraid to say, “Here’s my honest take…” even if it’s different from what’s trending.


Use AI as a helper, not a replacement

  • Let AI help you brainstorm ideas or rough outlines, then rewrite in your own words.

  • Add details only you know: customer quotes, behind‑the‑scenes moments, specific numbers.

  • Read everything out loud—is this how you actually talk? If not, tweak until it sounds like you.


Make your content feel human

  • Use photos and videos of you, your team, your space, and your real customers.

  • Engage in the comments: ask questions, respond thoughtfully, and remember returning names.

  • Share your values and boundaries (what matters to you, how you work, what you won’t do just for a sale).


Double down on depth, not just volume

  • Instead of posting 10 “meh” pieces a week, post 2–3 thoughtful, specific, helpful ones.

  • Focus on content that your audience will want to save, share, or act on—not just scroll past.
